Day 1: Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

We start our journey in the morning with a visit to the impressive rocks at Dades Gorges. On our way we pass the beautiful oasis of Skoura, where we find numerous ancient kasbahs surrounded by palm trees. We continue our tour through the Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses. The abundant rose blossoms are harvested in Spring with the yearly Rose Festival. After this celebration the roses are collected by local companies to be processed into the highly valued beauty products that you will find throughout Morocco.

On our off-road route we will pass by the caves which has been used for centuries as a home for Berber nomads. After our tea cermoney with them we continue our journey to the Dades Gorges for lunch. After lunch you can spend your full afternoon strolling in the valley, over the gorges rocks and in the fields.

There are different options for spending the night in this beautiful environment. You could spend the night in a hotel, in an ancient kasbah, or for the ultimate authentic experience it is also possible the spend the night in the hills in the house of a Berber family.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Merzouga

After breakfast the journey continues to Tinghir for a walk around the different gorges rock formations of Toudgha Gorges. Today our end destination is in the Erg Chebbi dunes. On our way we pass Tinjdad, the oasis of Tafilalet near Erfoud which is famous for its annual Date Festival. Between Tinjdad and Erfoud you got the chance to take a look into the underground water cannels deep below the earth which serve as a source of irrigation. In Erfoud you can take a look at the working process of thousands of fossils being transformed into all kinds of artefacts.

Our lunch will be served in a Berber village, after which we continue to the Erg Chebbi dunes. At the desert bivouac we will be warmly welcomed with a traditional tea ceremony, after which you can take your camel ride to the top of the dunes to watch a magnificent sunset. A delicious traditional diner will be served in the nomad tents, after which you can take your rest in your own tent surrounded by nothing but the silence, sand and starskies of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga – Agdez

If you wake up early you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast we continue our journey to the village of Tazzarine from the film Babel and to N’Qob for our lunch time. In the afternoon our journey takes us to Tansikht where we will drive along the ancient caravan route, discovering the beautiful Dra’a Valley with its huge palm trees and ancient villages. At the end of the afternoon we arrive at Agdez where we will spend the night in an ancient kasbah.

Day 4: Agdez – Agadir

After breakfast we drive north-west from Agdez to Taknakht. Following the bautiful landscapes in this more secluded part of the country we pass the Bouazzer mines. From here we continue west to Agadir, crossing the Tizi-n-Ikhsane and Tizi-n-Tighatine passes. We spend our lunchtime in Taliouine, the heart of this saffran growing region of Morocco. In the afternoon we hit the road to Taroudant, following the often dry Souss river and the innumerous argane groves on the hillsides to our final destination Agadir.
