Day 1: Ouarzazate – M’hamid

In the morning we start our journey to Agdez and  through the Dra’a Valley. From here we will be off-road driving following the ancient caravan route to Zagora for a good lunch. In the afternoon we continue our way to M’hamid where the road stops and the Sahara sand sea starts. In the bivouac in the Erg Lihoudi dunes we will be welcomed with a traditional tea ceremony. The camels are already waiting for us to take us to the highest dune to watch the magnificent sunset bathing the Sahara sand dunes in golden light. After a delicious dinner it is time for a good night’s rest under the star lit skies in the Sahara.

Day 2: M’hamid – Erg Chigaga

If you wake up early you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the Sahara. On camels we return to M’hamid, from where we drive 60 km off-road through the Sahara to arrive in the Erg Chigaga dunes (300m). After sunset and diner the second evening and night will be spend deep in the Sahara surrended by nothing but silence, sand and stars.

Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Taroudant

After breakfast our journey continues through a variety of landscapes: the ‘erg’ sand dunes, ‘hammada’ stone desert, oases, and the dry Lake Iriqui where lots of fossils can be found. Via Foum Zguid, the first village after the desert, we will head to Taznakht, well-known for its Berber gelims and carpets where we stop for lunch. After crossing the Tizi-n-Ikhsane and Tizi-n-Tighatine passes we reach Taliouine which is the heart of the saffran growing region. The road takes us on to Taroudant, where we will spend our night in a beautiful riad.

Day 4: Taroudant – Essaouira

The next morning we will visit the town that is known as ‘little Marrakesh’. This unique white and blue city has a beautiful medina and a laid-back atmosphere in which you will surrender to the bliss of the deep blue Atlantic Ocean. From Taroudant we continue our journey trough the Souss river valley which argan groves grow until Agadir. Travelling up against the coast we pass the magnificent Paradise Valley, after which we continue through Taghazout and through the mountains. In Essaouira there is enough time to explore the town and the old medina with numerous artisanal shops and fresh fish restaurants at the sea front. The night is spend in Essaouira where you will be surrounded by the sea breeze and waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
